Weatherization Day project is Saturday

A Weatherization Day community project will be Saturday. The project assists low-income residents by providing minor home repairs in order to help conserve energy and ensure the health and safety of the residents.

This is a free service to those who qualify. For information, call Mid-Florida Community Services at 796-1425.

Salvation Army offering Christmas toys, baskets

BROOKSVILLE - The Salvation Army is accepting applications for its Christmas Assistance program (food baskets and toys) for low-income families at the office at 15464 Cortez Blvd.

The office will accept applications from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through Nov. 5.

To be eligible, applicants must be Hernando County residents and either legal guardians or custodial parents of children younger than 12. There also are income guidelines.

Required documentation includes photo identification for all adults, birth certificates for all children, Social Security cards for adults and children, and proof of income, expenses and residency.

"Angels on High' event scheduled for Dec. 11-18

SPRING HILL - The Spring Hill Community Association will host the annual "Angels on High" holiday event Dec. 11-18 on the association grounds at the Lake House, 1202 Kenlake Ave.

Those wishing to participate and enter an angel are encouraged to sign up now; call 666-4746. "Angels on High" is a lighted Christmas display of painted plywood angels that, with the help of wires and strategic lighting, seem to be flying through the trees surrounding the association's Lake House. Last year's event included more than 70 angels created by residents, businesses, clubs and charitable organizations.

St. Anthony's annual golf tourney set for Nov. 17

BROOKSVILLE - The annual St. Anthony's Fellowship Golf Tournament will be Nov. 17 at Brooksville Golf and Country Club on Links Drive.

A shotgun start will be at 12:30 p.m.

The entry fee is $55 per golfer (no refunds after Nov. 3), which includes golf, dinner, prizes and a silent auction.

The tournament is a four-person scramble and is limited to 124 golfers.

Sponsors are welcome.
