Davis Islands: A grand opening

Published October 29, 2004

The Davis Island Yacht Club celebrated the opening of its new clubhouse on Oct. 22 after more than a year of construction. The $1.2-million clubhouse has a upper level bar, restaurant, offices and meeting rooms and a deck with expansive views of the Hillsborough Bay and downtown. The ground level has open work space for members. The clubhouse has approximately 8,000 square feet, about 3,000 square feet more than the previous building, which served the club for more than 50 years. To pay for the $1.2-million project, members agree to a 30 percent dues increase. Donations and naming rights on plaques and chairs covered the rest.
