Fright this way

It's not too late to try these Halloween party tips from Lori Bonner, author of Putting on a Party, and Joan Kohn, the kitchen-and-bath expert from HGTV:

* At the kitchen sink, use orange dish-washing liquid in a clear plastic or glass dispenser.

* Dress up the sink's faucet and handles with plastic spider rings you can get at a party store.

* Freeze kernels of candy corn in ice cubes for a surprise in cold drinks.

* Spray-paint a pumpkin black; let it dry, then carve it as usual. The contrast between the black outside and the orange edges is very striking by day, Bonner says, and at night, the illuminated features seem to be floating in air.
