TAMPA - Freshman James Taddeo won the 100-yard backstroke and was a member of the 200 medley relay, helping Countryside to two of the three firsts the Cougars took at the Class 2A, Region 3 meet.
The other win came in the girls 200 medley relay. In that event, Kimberly Iaquinto, Katie Kastes, Megan Lawrence, and Kylie Kastes finished in 1 minute, 53 seconds for the win.
Taddeo won his individual race in 56.81 seconds. He was joined in the relay by David Donovan, Tommy Lombardo and Mathew Reder, who clocked a 1:43.84.
Largo's Keith Coghlan also picked up a win. The sophomore swam a 54.48 in the 100 butterfly.
All advance to next week's state meet in Gainesville.
