Tigers take the A-3 title

Jesuit won the boys title Saturday in the Class A, Region 3 swimming meet in Sarasota with a score of 137, edging runner-up Tampa Prep, which had 80.

Winners for Jesuit in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1 minute, 40.54 seconds, were Tommy Wyher, Bryn Leonard, Stephen Sheridan and Jimmy Goodwin. Jesuit also took the 200 freestyle relay with Andrew Werdine, Sully Lynch, Matt Josey and Goodwin finishing in 1:32.05. The Tigers also won the 400 free relay in 3:17.98 with Matt Attal teaming up with Lynch, Sheridan, and Wyher.

Tampa Prep edged Academy of Holy Names, 104-96, for the girls title. Kelly Hug, Elisa Pineda, Gael Carter, and Stephanie Derito took the 200 medley relay for AHN. Hug also won two individual events, the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, while Derito took the 100 free.

Wyher also won the boys 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke race in 52:30 and 51:57, respectively. The latter mark qualified him as an All-American.
