Gracious words of victory by Fagan; in defeat, by Prescott

The runoff race for the Hernando County School Board District 2 seat ended as graciously as it had begun.
Pat Fagan, the county's parks and recreation director, won 40,175 votes, while longtime teacher Linda Prescott won 29,600, according to final unofficial election results.
Just as during their campaigns, the two candidates had nothing but kind words for each other.
"I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who supported me and for all their hard work, and to wish Pat the very best," said Linda Prescott. "He worked so hard for two years for the job, so I wish him again the best of luck."
Fagan returned the praise with compliments for both retiring board member Gail David and Prescott.
"I just want to say that Linda Prescott was a professional, well-qualified individual," he said. "And it's going to be a challenge to fill Gail David's shoes."
