We admit that we're a bit biased (it is called the Times Festival of Reading, after all), but it always is a great thing to see thousands of people gather every fall to celebrate books and reading.

People waited in line 90 minutes last year, above, to meet mystery writer Mary Higgins Clark and have her sign their books. This year's authors include Tom Robbins, Andrei Codrescu, Maureen Dowd, Edward P. Jones, Max Frankel, Amy Goodman and many more. Full details are in a special section in today's St. Petersburg Times.

As always, too, there will be special activities for children and a Booksellers Marketplace. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Eckerd College, 4200 54th Ave. S, St. Petersburg. 727 892-2358 or www.festivalofreading.com Free.
