1. The Motorcycle Diaries - Che Guevara's revolutionary fuse is lighted during a 1962 road trip through South America. Fine performances by Gael Garcia Bernal as Guevara and Rodrigo de la Serna as his traveling companion.
2. Stage Beauty - Women were forbidden to be stage actors in the 17th century, making a man (Billy Crudup, Almost Famous) the leading "lady" of his era. But not for long.
3. Ray - Jamie Foxx's portrayal of the late music legend Ray Charles deserves an Oscar nomination, and perhaps a medal for rescuing an otherwise standard film biography.
4. Alfie - Jude Law's sexy performance rescues a flashy but needless remake of the 1966 film that launched Michael Caine's career.
5. The Incredibles - The latest Pixar/Disney collaboration film seldom lives up to its title, but provides kicky animated fun for all ages, a rarity at this time of the movie year.
