TALLAHASSEE - Susan Goldstein was declared the winner of a Broward County state House seat Thursday, solidifying a three-seat pickup for Republicans in a chamber they already dominate.

Goldstein, of Weston, will succeed Democrat Nan Rich, who was elected to the state Senate. Goldstein outpolled Democrat Barbara Herrera-Hill.

In northeast Florida, Republican Bill Proctor of St. Augustine defeated Barbara Revels for a seat vacated by Minority Leader Doug Wiles, forced out by term limits. In Volusia County, Republican Dorothy Hukill of Port Orange defeated Democrat Jim Ward and Libertarian Jerry Cameron in a race for a seat being vacated by Democrat Suzanne Kosmas.
