Xpress, the Coolest Section of the St. Petersburg Times, is the home for features, news and views of interest to young readers. Most of the work in Xpress, which appears on Mondays in Floridian, is produced by the Times' X-Team. The team of journalists ages 9-17 from around the Tampa Bay area is selected every year at the end of the school year to serve during the following school term. The current team of 12 was chosen out of 150 applicants. Watch for X-Team application forms in Xpress during the month of May.

Bored with boring old peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? You don't have to be. If you are 6 to 12 years old, you can use your imagination and win big. A new contest sponsored by Jif calls on you to design your ultimate peanut butter fantasy sandwich. Design it, send in your recipe, and you could win. The rules? Simple. You just need to use at least two teaspoons of peanut butter in your recipe. A winner will collect a $5,000 savings bond and a Jif gift pack. More information can be found at: www.jif.com The contest ends Nov. 30, so hurry up!

Love my coach

What makes a good coach for your sports team, you wonder? Well, thanks to Sports Illustrated for Kids and a new survey, we have the answer to the question that has eluded Little League fans and players for years. Overwhelmingly, players suggest that a coach who encourages players to improve is a big plus. We say, um, no duh, to that one. More kids say an encouraging and supportive coach is super important. Others say it's all about having fun, and that a coach who is nice and helpful is better than a strict one who only tolerates winning. We prefer a coach who will treat the team for pizza after the games. Surprisingly, that's not on the survey.

X-Press quote

"I know every time Lindsey (Lohan) goes to the bathroom and I'm like, "I don't want to know.' I'm fine with my press. I don't want to be in the press all the time because 1) you get sick of the person faster and 2) I don't want y'all in my business."

- Raven-Symone, 18, telling the Associated Press about the world of celebrity.
