Final deal okayed for restoring Bucs seats to red

TAMPA - The pink seats at Raymond James Stadium should be red again in time for next football season.

The Tampa Sports Authority on Monday approved an agreement to have the seats replaced by their manufacturer, Hussey Seating Co., after they faded in just a few years under the Florida sun.

The vote came after Hussey submitted a copy of a written five-year warranty against future fading. In addition to replacing the plastic seat backs and bottoms, metal standards that hold them in place also will be repainted because many are rusting or flaking. The Sports Authority received a one-year warranty for that work.

As part of the agreement, the Sports Authority will supply four workers to assist with the replacement work at a cost of about $26,000. Sports Authority officials said the agreement should allow the work to be completed by the start of the 2005 season.
