Plant City man killed by two falling blocks

TAMPA - A Plant City man died after two large cement blocks fell on him at work Thursday morning, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Harold M. Jones Jr., 50, of 2903 Paul Buchman Highway, was pronounced dead at Tampa General Hospital at 11 a.m., said sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter.

While Jones was at work at Florida Rock, a construction materials supply company at 5609 N 50th St., two blocks fell on his legs and back, Carter said.

Sheriff's deputies and a county Fire Rescue crew arrived on the scene and took Jones to TGH.
