A student was injured Friday morning when a Pinellas County school bus she was in collided with a Ford Taurus.

Krystine Danaher, 14, was not seriously injured but was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where she was treated and released. She was the only passenger on the bus.

The crash happened at 6:36 a.m. on Walsingham Road, said the Florida Highway Patrol. Marvin Elliot Jr., 21, was driving the Taurus when he drifted out of his lane and into oncoming traffic.

Elliot told a Highway Patrol investigator that he may have momentarily fallen asleep behind the wheel.

Both Elliot and his passenger, Amanda Anderson, 16, were seriously injured and taken to Bayfront.

The bus driver, Cesar R. Almodovar, 53, suffered minor injuries.
