For a fabulous roundup of all of the various red vs. blue election maps, this is the site for you. My favorite was the near real-time Flash-powered map CNN produced. I was constantly reloading it while taking short moments out of my personal efforts to keep the economy ticking.
Speaking of the election: If you're unhappy with the results and the thought of moving to California makes you shudder, look north. Yes, the wide open, liberal spaces of Canada could be calling your name, if it weren't for that pesky multiyear wait for a work visa. But just marry a Canadian and your application will be catapulted to the top of the pile. This site is jammed full of left-leaning pretty people just itching to save you from four more years. And, if you're humor impaired, it is a parody.
This is my absolute favorite photography site. Well, it is at least until something shiny comes along and catches my wandering eye. This one focuses on snapping street life in New York City. I'm particularly fond of Gus Powell's gritty view and playful observations. But the gems are those from David Gibson, and some of the visuals border on surreal. Regardless, it's bookmark fodder of the highest quality should urban views be on your horizon.
Imagine a refrigerator with a bunch of magnetic letters on it. Then imagine standing in front of it with, say, 30 other invisible people with whom you cannot communicate. That's what this site is like. You can drag the letters around and make words, but don't expect them to be there for long. Somebody will steal your letters. There are no points, because it's not a game. And the only point it would seem is just for fun.
Sometimes, after giggling at a gag site, your mind drifts to logistics of how one would pull off such a long-running stunt. Imagine dragging a trash can to each of the 50 states plus the United Kingdom. Then think about working through the details of getting somebody to take a picture of you in said trash can - and not getting run over if you were, say, in it in the middle of a highway. Or over in Centro Ybor in Tampa. Kent is indeed crazy.
