For four years, Geisler has handled the Bulls' kickoffs while Gramatica has handled field goals and extra points. Saturday, he scored the first points of his career when Gramatica went down with a groin injury.
Geisler kicked three extra points and a 33-yard field goal against East Carolina.
"He looked good in the game and he nailed two in practice (Wednesday)," Leavitt said. "So, he's real excited. He's waited four years for this."
Leavitt said offensive guard Frank Davis is doubtful for this week's game. Davis is practicing this week for the first time since missing games against UAB and ECU. Junior John Miller will start in his place for the third straight game.
UM: Berlin chasing history
Brock Berlin has been the target of plenty of complaints during his two seasons as Miami's quarterback. Yet he could leave as one of the Hurricanes' winningest quarterbacks.
Barring injury, he'll have three more starts as a Hurricane - two regular season games and a bowl matchup. Should Miami win them all, Berlin would leave the school with a 20-4 record as a starter, which would rank him sixth in the program's history behind Steve Walsh (23-1), Ken Dorsey (38-2), Gino Torretta (26-2), Craig Erickson (18-2) and Vinny Testaverde (20-3).
Berlin leads the ACC in total offense this season, averaging 219.9 yards. In his last six games, he's thrown 15 touchdowns and only two interceptions.
