A choice of operas

Operas come in a bunch this weekend. Along with Opera Tampa's Madama Butterfly, there are two others in the Tampa Bay area and another in Orlando.

Richard Strauss' Salome, with Deidra Palmour in the title role and Greer Grimsley as John the Baptist, opens the Orlando Opera season, with performances at 8 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre. $20-$70. Verdi's La Traviata is on the agenda at 8 p.m. Friday at Clearwater's Ruth Eckerd Hall, with a production by the Stanislavsky Opera Company of Moscow. $35-$45. (727) 791-7400. Music Live!
