PENSACOLA - The FBI is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of former Escambia County Commissioner Willie Junior, who vanished a day before he was to be sentenced on corruption charges.

The FBI joined state and local authorities in a search for Junior after U.S. District Judge Miles Davis signed an arrest warrant.

Junior, 62, disappeared Nov. 9, the day before he was to be sentenced in state court on bribery, extortion and grand theft charges. Prosecutors had made a deal with him for a prison term of no more than 18 months in exchange for a no-contest plea and his testimony against other corruption defendants, including fellow ex-Commissioner W.D. Childers, former Florida Senate president.

Junior's failure to appear in court is punishable by up to five years in prison.
