GAINESVILLE - Linnea Liljestrand scored 20 off the bench and Ganiyat Adeduntan had 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead Florida State to a 72-62 win over Florida on Monday night, snapping the Seminoles' 16-game losing streak to their instate rivals.

Alicia Gladden added 12 points and six steals for the Seminoles, who beat the Gators for the first time since a 90-78 overtime win in December 1991.

"We're extremely excited to beat a very good Florida team," FSU coach Sue Semrau said. "It's been a long time coming for us, and I'm so proud of our team. After all we've been through, we've really come together in a special way. It's early and everybody's going to get better."

The Seminoles led most of the game and built their biggest lead in the second half at 24 with 8:42 left.

The Gators rallied, capping a 14-1 run with Danielle Santos' 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 63-56, the closest they had been since the first half. But the Seminoles hit 7 of 10 free throws down the stretch.
