TAMPA - Chanae Early had a career-high 20 points Wednesday night as South Florida took an early lead and cruised to an 82-53 win over Army in its home opener at the Sun Dome.
The Bulls (4-1), who played four road games in eight days, led 12-3 6:30 into the game and never were threatened.
"I was glad to come home," USF coach Jose Fernandez said.
Early, who came in when Anedra Gilmore picked up two quick fouls, shot 7-of-12 from the field, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range, and made both her free throws.
"Chanae's more of a scoring threat (than Gilmore)," Fernandez said. "She comes in and has to give us a scoring punch, and she did that."
Jessica Dickson added 17 points and Nalini Miller 16 for USF. Ezria Parsons and Miller led the Bulls with eight rebounds each.
Former Seminole High standout Jen Hansen led Army (1-2) with 21 points and seven rebounds.
USF shot 57.6 percent (19-of-33) and forced 11 turnovers in the first half while commiting four. The Bulls shot 55.9 percent (33-and-59) for the game and held Army to 29.8 percent (17-of-57).
