NOTABLE: What looked like a soft early schedule apparently wasn't, at least for a young FSU bunch. The Seminoles not only lost at home to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, they then lost to Kent State and Texas Christian over the weekend. Now comes a trip to Minneapolis for the ACC-Big Ten Challenge game, its fourth game in seven days. ... Though the Golden Gophers are young and not expected to finish in the top half of their league, this can hardly be considered a gimme. They might be a bit road weary after three straight games in Anchorage for the Great Alaskan Shootout, but they played well before losing to No. 22 Alabama and Oklahoma. ... The Golden Gophers lead the series 3-2, including a 76-71 win in Tallahassee in 2000.

Florida is coming off a win over Providence in the Orange Bowl Classic and is shooting 52.5 percent from the field and 43.1 percent from 3-point range. ... FAMU, led by junior guard Tony Tate (15.3 points), is playing its fourth consecutive road game. The Rattlers won't play in their home gym until Jan. 6. ... Two of their losses have been to Michigan State and Illinois. ... Forward Michael Harper is the only Rattler who started in last year's game against the Gators.
