Florida State senior offensive tackle Alex Barron and Miami senior cornerback Antrel Rolle have been named to the American Football Coaches Association All-America team.
Top-ranked Southern California has three players on the squad, quarterback Matt Leinart, linebacker Matt Grootegoed and return specialist Reggie Bush, as does No. 2 Oklahoma with receiver Mark Clayton, offensive lineman Jammal Brown and tailback Adrian Peterson, the first freshman the AFCA has honored since Herschel Walker in 1980.
"When the coaches pick you for an honor, it means a little more because a lot of them are hard to please," Peterson said. "Herschel Walker was a great player. It's nice to be mentioned with him but I don't think I deserve that yet."

USF: Cornhusker commitsUSF picked up its fourth commitment when Danny Muy, a freshman center at Nebraska, told Bulls coaches Thursday he would be transferring next month. Muy, 6 foot 3 and 285 pounds, went to Tallahassee Lincoln High and was ranked by Rivals.com last year as the nation's No. 9 center prospect. His stepfather, Scott McPherson, said Thursday he expects USF to petition the NCAA for a hardship waiver that will allow him to transfer without sitting out a year because he's changing schools to be closer to his mother, Marta, as she continues to battle breast cancer.
Muy did not play at Nebraska and would be a redshirt freshman next fall if the waiver is approved. He joins Lake Gibson quarterback Matt Grothe, Armwood defensive back R.J. Anderson and Fort Lauderdale lineman Chris DeArmas as USF commitments.
IN THE WORKS: North Carolina senior associate athletic director Larry Gallo confirmed that UNC and USF have discussed a home-and-home football series. The Tar Heels schedule is full next season, as well as 2008, leaving 2006-07 as the likely target for the series.
USF has committed to play at Central Florida in 2006 and at Auburn in 2007. Of its other potential Florida trips, UNC does not play Florida State either season and is at Miami in 2006 and home against the Hurricanes in 2007.
INJURY UPDATE: USF will be without two key reserves at defensive tackle as Cedric Battles (knee) and Matt Groelinger (thumb) are out against Pittsburgh, but redshirt freshman Curtis Chance of Dixie Hollins has recovered from an ankle injury and will play. The Bulls may give a start to senior Craig Kobel.

Nation: OU denies rumorOklahoma President David Boren said he has not met with Bob Stoops to re-negotiate the coach's contract, despite rumors that Stoops would receive a raise to dissuade any interest he might have in returning to Florida.
"I'm confident that the rumor that coach Stoops is giving consideration to the Florida coaching job or any other coaching job is completely unfounded," Boren said.
