ST. PETERSBURG - A man wearing sunglasses robbed a Bank of America inside a Publix grocery store on Thursday morning, police said.

The gunman entered the grocery store at 10496 Roosevelt Blvd N about 10:52 a.m., police said. He approached a teller, showed a handgun in his waistband, then handed the teller a note, police said. He left the store in a maroon Ford Excursion that was parked near the loading dock behind Publix, police said.

Police say the same man may have robbed another Bank of America in Hillsborough County on Dec. 7. The suspect was described as a black man, mid 30s, 5-foot-11 and 200-250 pounds, police said. He was a clean-shaven, balding man who wore a dark sweater and pants, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jim Shakas at (727) 893-4911.
