Today: Florida men vs Georgia Southern

By ANTONYA ENGLISH
Published December 19, 2004

WHEN/WHERE: 1; Stephen C. O'Connell Center, Gainesville.

TV/RADIO: ESPN; 620-AM. RECORDS: Georgia Southern 3-5, UF 5-2.

COACHES: Georgia Southern - Jeff Price (87-65, sixth season); UF - Billy Donovan (174-86, ninth season; 209-106).

OF NOTE: Florida hasn't played since its 74-70 loss to Louisville Dec. 11. Donovan said the break has given the Gators valuable practice time to work on themselves instead of preparing for their next opponent. ... The Gators are 2-2 against Georgia Southern, but the two have met only once in the past half-century, a 76-62 Florida win in 1998. ... Matt Walsh needs nine points for 1,000 for his career. ... Although the Gators have losses against arguably their only tough opponents, Louisville and Miami, they say there's no need to panic. "Certainly I'm disappointed with the two losses at home," Donovan said. "But I still think our team has potential, it's got upside."
