Car count hints at record holiday for airport

By Times Staff Writer
Published December 25, 2004

TAMPA - Tampa International Airport is looking at a record number of visitors this holiday, airport officials said Friday.

The number of parked cars in the airport's lots Friday were up 24 percent from last year, said airport spokeswoman Brenda Geoghagen.

"This may be the biggest December on record for us," she said.

By late Friday, about 18 flights had been canceled or delayed due to bad weather across the Midwest, airport officials said. A day earlier, the snowstorm caused scores of passengers on dozens of flights to be delayed.
