Neither its name nor its location hint that Clancy's Steak House is a place to expect the unexpected - seasoned with Cajun flair.
Film
Also opening: 'Envy' - mixed with curiosity
What's wrong with this picture? Envy (PG-13) is directed by Academy Award winner Barry Levinson (Rain Man) and stars Jack Black and Ben Stiller, two of the most popular comic actors working today. Yet two major studios sharing the distribution deal, DreamWorks and Columbia Pictures, wouldn't arrange a local advance screening for opening-day reviews.
Indie flix: A feast for the ears
Greendale (Not rated, probably PG-13) (83 min.) - The latest film by grump-rocker Neil Young, his first in 21 years, is so sincerely amateurish in its cinematic technique that its primitive style almost can be forgiven. Greendale was filmed by Young with a Super 8 camera, lending it home-movie sloppiness, in which editing is a rare luxury and focus is an afterthought.
It ought to be illegal
Thou shalt not try to capitalize on Tracy-Hepburn style when cliche is your only evidence, but Laws of Attraction tries to.
Top 5 movies
1. Mean Girls - Saturday Night Live head writer Tina Fey proves she's ready for Hollywood's prime time with a smart teen comedy for all ages.
Family movie guide
The Family Movie Guide should be used along with the Motion Picture Association of America rating system for selecting movies suitable for children. Only films rated G, PG or PG-13 are included in this weekly listing, along with occasional R-rated films that may have entertainment or educational value for older children with parental guidance. Compiled by St. Petersburg Times film critic Steve Persall.
'Godsend' is a god-awful mess
Filmgoers will have nightmares about this "thriller" - for all the wrong reasons.
Blackboard jungle
Thanks to Tina Fey, there's a message to Mean Girls, a darkly humorous look at how teen girls socially prey on one another.
There's a hole in this one
Bobby Jones, Stroke of Genius plays like a long par 5: fascinating to golfers, a bit slow for the rest of us.

Things we like
We don't just like tomatoes: we love 'em. Provided, of course, that they're vine ripe and red. Or, if they're green, sliced thick, rolled in cornmeal batter and fried crisp.
