Today: USF women at UF

By GREG AUMAN, Times Staff Writer
Published January 2, 2005

WHEN/WHERE: 3; O'Connell Center, Gainesville.

TV: Sunshine. RECORDS: USF 10-3, Florida 8-4.

COACHES: USF - Jose Fernandez (49-75, fifth season); Florida - Carolyn Peck (36-34, third season; 89-45 overall).

NOTES: Florida leads the series 35-4, but the Bulls are in good position to make this a close game. USF has won five in a row, all by 36 points or more, and the Gators have won their past two, including an impressive win against another C-USA team, Charlotte, which went into Gainesville 11-1. ... It's close to a homecoming for USF sophomore forward Jessica Dickson of Ocala, who leads the Bulls at 15.2 points per game and led NCAA freshmen in scoring last season. "I would have liked to go there, but when they switched coaches, they really didn't keep up with me," said Dickson, who expects a big following of family and friends. ... The Gators are led by former Hernando standout Bernice Mosby, who is averaging a team-best 15.3 points and 8.3 rebounds as a junior forward. ... The Bulls open their conference season at home Friday against Louisville.
