LAST MEETING: The Bucs equaled the best start in franchise history with their fifth straight victory despite being outdone in nearly every statistical category in a 19-18 win in Tampa on Sept. 28, 1997.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS: The Bucs opened and closed the 1992 seasons with wins against the Cardinals, including a 23-7 victory in coach Sam Wyche's debut on Sept. 6. . . . The Bucs scored 21 second-half points but lost their fifth straight to the Cardinals, 30-24, on Sept. 18, 1988.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

BUCS: Linebacker Derrick Brooks, named last week to his eighth consecutive Pro Bowl, leads the team with 163 tackles. First-round draft pick Michael Clayton set Bucs' rookie receiving records for catches (78), yards (1,107) and touchdowns (6) this season.

CARDINALS: Running back Emmitt Smith has 868 yards and nine touchdowns. The NFL's all-time leading rusher will need his third 100-yard game of the season to reach 1,000. Defensive end Bertrand Berry, named last week to his first Pro Bowl, leads the NFC with 12.5 sacks.
