Hot ticket: All about manatees

By Times Staff
Published January 6, 2005

Manatees are the stars of the annual Manatee Festival in downtown Crystal River, but music is a co-star. The "Sings Like Buffett to Me" Jimmy Buffett sing-alike contest is always a hit with the crowd.

There also are arts and crafts, a fine art show and food.

Oh, yes, and manatees. Festivalgoers can take slow boat tours of Kings Bay to look at the creatures and check out the manatee education exhibits.

The festival is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday along Citrus Avenue in downtown Crystal River. $2 for 12 and older. (352) 795-3149 or (352) 726-2801.
