INVERNESS - A Citrus County teacher's aide was arrested Wednesday on charges that she had sex with a 15-year-old male student.

Tammy Lee Huggins, 35, of Hernando told detectives she had sex with the Citrus High School student 15 to 20 times since December, according to a Citrus County Sheriff's Office arrest report. She was charged with lewd and lascivious battery on a child.

She resigned Monday after she finished teaching a class, the Citrus County Chronicle reported Wednesday. She was a jobs coach and helps students get work with local businesses.

Detectives interviewed several witnesses who said they saw Huggins and the boy having sex, the report said. The boy confirmed the relationship to investigators.

He also said they were both sober and knew what they were doing, the report said. The boy said the incidents occurred in friends' vehicles and at Huggins' house.

School superintendent Sandra Himmel said she was notified about the incident Wednesday, but she declined to comment further. Huggins was jailed on $15,000 bail. She did not have a listed phone number, and it could not be immediately determined whether she had a lawyer.
