Skeleton uncovered in lot identified as white man's

TARPON SPRINGS - The human skeleton found Wednesday in a vacant lot is of a white man between ages 30 and 50, the Pinellas County medical examiner said.

After conducting a preliminary investigation, the medical examiner created a sketch of the man who police say committed suicide with a gunshot in the head. The man was 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 9 and possibly had dark or salt-and-pepper hair. He was wearing size 101/2 cross trekker suede sneakers and size 38 by 34 denim pants with a white rope for a belt. He was wearing an unknown-colored medium-size button-down shirt and a dark colored knit watch-type cap. Authorities have not determined how long the remains were there. The skeleton was found by a land-survey crew in a wooded area just west of U.S. 19 and south of the Pinellas-Pasco county line. Anyone with information about this case should call Tarpon Springs police at (727) 938-2849.
