Four Tampa Bay area businesses will be among 19 companies vying for investors at the upcoming Florida Venture Capital Conference in Orlando on Jan. 27-28.

Local presenters include Accel Networks of St. Petersburg and Health Integrated, Persystent Technology Corp. and Gold Standard of Tampa. Each company receives 12 minutes to pitch its business plan to the audience, which includes venture capitalists, investment bankers and private equity investors. Over the past 13 years, the annual conference has helped raise $680-million for Florida entrepreneurial efforts.

Speakers at the event at the Omni Resort at ChampionsGate include Dr. Richard Lerner, president of Scripps Research Institute, and Timothy Draper, managing director of the venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

Registration is $499 per person through www.floridaventureforum.org or $549 at the door.
