AUSTIN, Texas - Daniel Gibson had 27 points and 10 rebounds as No.15 Texas beat No.5 Oklahoma State 75-61 Monday night.

But P.J. Tucker, Texas' leading scorer, said academic problems could keep him off the court during the spring semester. Coach Rick Barnes and school officials have declined comment.

Down 39-27 at halftime, the Cowboys opened the second half with a 10-0 run. But Tucker made his first basket, a tough layup in the lane. Then he fought his way around two Cowboys under the basket to fire a pass to Kenton Paulino, whose 3-pointer made it 46-39 before Gibson made it a 10-point game with another 3-pointer.

NO.16 UCONN 77, SETON HALL 68: The host Huskies' frontcourt dominated. Josh Boone had 20 points and eight rebounds, Rudy Gay 18 points and seven rebounds and Charlie Villanueva 16 points and 12 rebounds, and they also combined to score UConn's first 28 of the second half. Down 30-15 early, J.R. Morris made a 3-pointer for Seton Hall to make it 69-66 with 2:40 left. But UConn guard Marcus Williams converted a three-point play with 2:07 left. 3-POINT BARRAGE: Host Georgia Southern made 22 3-pointers, 11 by Elton Nesbitt, in a 107-84 win over Chattanooga. The 22 fell six shy of Troy's NCAA record set in 1994. Nesbitt, who scored 43, fell four shy of the record set by Marshall's Keith Veney in 1996. NO.21 PITT: Guard Yuri Demetris faces burglary and simple assault charges after allegedly entering an ex-girlfriend's apartment twice through a bedroom window and punching her. Suspended indefinitely Sunday, he will have a preliminary hearing Thursday.

SEC honors Gator

GAINESVILLE - Florida junior guard Anthony Roberson was named the SEC player of the week for the first time since his freshman season.

Roberson scored 34 in a win over Auburn on Wednesday, one shy of his career high, hitting 6 of 10 3-pointers and scoring 10 in overtime. He also had a career-high nine rebounds. Saturday, he scored 30 in a win over Vanderbilt.

"I think it comes and goes," he said. "This is a whole other week. Wednesday (vs. Tennessee) is another game."

NO.8 KENTUCKY: Guard Joe Crawford, one of three freshman McDonald's All-Americans, rejoined the team after announcing last week he would transfer as a result of a dispute over playing time. Coach Tubby Smith said he will face "some sanctions" but did not specify.

State

COPPIN ST. 65, B-CC 61: The host Eagles rallied from a 32-21 halftime deficit. N.TEXAS 68, FIU 60: The visiting Mean Green shot just 33.9 percent but capitalized on 26 turnovers. MORGAN ST. 74, FAMU 59: Sam Brand scored 19 for the host Bears. JACKSONVILLE 70, BELMONT 68: Haminn Quaintance made the go-ahead free throws after David Lee's steal with 16.8 seconds left for the host Dolphins.

Women

NO. 13 UCONN 73, NO. 15 TEXAS 57: Freshman Charde Houston scored a career-high 25 for the host Huskies. She made her first six second-half shots and UConn its first nine in increasing a seven-point halftime lead to 57-40 with 10:14 left. NO.1 DUKE 82, GA. TECH 59: Down 45-35 in the second half, the host Blue Devils went on a 33-10 run. NO.9 UNC 83, MIAMI 52: Ivory Latta scored 13 straight to help the host Tar Heels take a 45-20 halftime lead. N.C. STATE 76, NO.23 VA. TECH 75 (OT): Marquetta Dickens' three-point play with 22 seconds left lifted the visiting Wolfpack. USF: Coach Jose Fernandez left the team after it arrived home from Sunday's game at Houston so he could be with relatives in Miami after a family illness. Fernandez, whose Bulls play Friday at home against Saint Louis, is expected to return Wednesday. Assistant Harry Elifson is directing practice. SEMINOLE HONORED: Florida State senior guard Roneeka Hodges was named the ACC player of the week. She had 24 points in Thursday's 68-57 win at Clemson and a school-record 39 in Sunday's 95-91 overtime win over Maryland.
