Monet at the Museum of Fine Arts isn't the only game in the area. Lots of fine shows at other museums and galleries have recently opened.

Tampa Museum of Art - "Signs and Symbols: AfricanAmerican Quilts."

The Studio @620, St. Petersburg - "Grand Ma's Hands: 100 Years of African-American Quilting," a new gallery that has opened with a fascinating exhibition.

University of South Florida Contemporary Art Museum, Tampa - Works by celebrated contemporary artist Alex Katz.

Clayton Galleries, Tampa - New paintings by Craig Rubadoux.

Gulf Coast Museum of Art, Largo - "Florida Focus," curated by Mark Ormond and featuring important regional artists.

Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, Tarpon Springs - Plein-air paintings by Josette Urso, a local artist with a New York address and a national following, and her husband, another successful painter, Peter Schroth.

Florida Craftsmen Gallery, St. Petersburg - Two shows curated by the Oiseaux Sisters of charming and eccentric mixed media work by various artists.

Clay & Paper and Painted Fish Gallery, Dunedin - "A Passion for Pottery II - Teapots."
