ORNSKOLDSVIK, Sweden - Peter Forsberg injured his wrist while playing for his hometown team on Thursday and might miss the rest of the Swedish Elite League season. Forsberg was injured after colliding with another player.
According to Aftonbladet, Forsberg, the 2003 NHL MVP, underwent immediate surgery after X-rays revealed a possible broken bone in his wrist.
Forsberg was uncertain to rejoin the Colorado Avalanche, opting instead to play for the Modo team coached by his father. His contract with Colorado expired last season, making him an unrestricted free agent.
