Women: Texas halts frustration against rival

AUSTIN, Texas - With the losses mounting in a frustrating season, Texas desperately needed a win.
The Longhorns got a big one Saturday over a key Big 12 rival.
Nina Norman scored 17, including eight in a key two-minute stretch late in the second half, to lead No. 15 Texas to a 69-55 win over No. 4 Baylor.
The Longhorns (10-6, 3-2) lost four of their previous six in a season that started with them ranked No. 2 and with expectations of reaching the Final Four. One of those losses came against Baylor two weeks earlier.
"We showed a lot of confidence and heart out there," senior guard Jamie Carey said. "It's been a tough week. It was great to see that again, to see fight, to see the passion."
Tiffany Jackson added 18 points and eight rebounds for Texas, which closed the game with a 15-2 run.
NO. 20 KANSAS ST. 55, NO. 10 TEXAS TECH 53: Kendra Wecker scored the last of her 19 points on a layup with 7.4 seconds left for the visiting Wildcats.
NO. 13 UCONN 64, SETON HALL 47: Junior forward Barbara Turner scored 14 to surpass 1,000 points in her career for the host Huskies.
NO. 19 IOWA ST. 74, NEBRASKA 54: Anne O'Neil scored 15 for the host Cyclones, who tied a school record with their 12th consecutive victory.
NO. 25 UCLA 85, CALIFORNIA 70: Nikki Blue had 20 points and 14 assists for the visiting Bruins, who overcame a halftime deficit. The Golden Bears took a 39-36 lead to halftime after Kiki Williams' 3-pointer.
State
LYNN 67, SAINT LEO 51: The host Lions got within 57-51 after trailing by 19 at halftime, but Lynn closed the Sunshine State Conference game on a 10-0 run. Sophomore forward Marina Arkhipova led Saint Leo with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
UCF 66, GEORGIA ST. 54: Celeste Hudson had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the host Golden Knights to an Atlantic Sun win.
FLA. SOUTHERN 56, ECKERD 53: Qunisha Rush scored 18 for the host Tritons, who couldn't hold on to an early 22-8 lead.
NOVA S'EASTERN 58, TAMPA 55: The Spartans lost for the first time in 11 home games this season as Nova ended the game with an 11-8 run. Jamie Skinner had 11 points and 15 rebounds for UT.
