FBI: Kidnapping suspect told boy dad was in on it

Associated Press

OCALA - A convicted child molester told an 11-year-old boy he was taking the child out of state, likely to Kentucky, at his father's request, according to court documents.

Frederick Fretz, 42, was arrested Sunday in Georgia on a federal kidnapping warrant. He faces two Florida charges of probation violation and failure to register as a sex offender.

Fretz picked the boy up from Dunnellon Elementary School in Marion County on Jan. 18 and told the boy his father had been arrested, according to the criminal complaint filed by FBI Special Agent Pamela Piersanti in U.S. District Court.

Fretz said the boy's father asked him to take the child out of state "as he did not want him to have to return to his mother's home," the document said. The boy's parents were divorcing.
