Two teens accused of attacking elderly woman

PORT RICHEY - Two teenagers were arrested Friday, accused of throwing an 83-year-old woman down and stealing her purse, the Sheriff's Office reported.

Andrew Kenneth Kilburn and Gai Makir Marwil, both 17, face charges of strong arm robbery and battery on a person older than 65.

The woman was walking along Stone Road about 2 p.m. Friday. She told deputies she passed the two boys walking in the other direction, and they said hello to her.

The next moment, she said, she was grabbed from behind and lifted into the air. Someone grabbed her purse, and she was thrown facedown to the pavement.

A witness pulled over to help as the woman screamed. The witness identified Marwil as one of the attackers. Marwil told deputies it was Kilburn who threw the woman to the ground but that they ran off together. Kilburn denied he was involved.

The woman reported soreness in her shoulder, wrist, elbow and hip, but X-rays showed no serious injuries.

Kilburn and Marwil, both of 8910 Eileen Drive, were taken to a juvenile assessment center.
