COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Nik Caner-Medley scored 19 to lead rejuvenated Maryland past No.22 Georgia Tech 79-71 Sunday.
Four days after winning at No.2 Duke, the Terps let an 11-point lead dwindle to three before pulling away.
After a jumper by John Gilchrist put Maryland up 63-52 with 9:30 left, Jarrett Jack made two free throws and a 10-footer to ignite an 8-0 run for Georgia Tech, which was coming off Thursday's 102-101 overtime win over No.5 Wake.
Maryland responded with Ekene Ibekwe's three-point play. And Georgia Tech came up empty on four consecutive possessions before Caner-Medley made a jumper off the glass for a 68-60 lead with 3:31 left.
NO.2 DUKE 100, VA. TECH 65: J.J. Redick scored 29 for the Blue Devils. Duke held the Hokies without a basket for the final 5:35 of the first half and capped a 17-2 run with Redick's 3-pointer at the buzzer for a 56-31 lead. Virginia Tech fell to 0-8 in Durham and played the final 4:39 without coach Seth Greenberg, who was issued his second technical foul and ejected.

USF reinstates Leather
TAMPA - USF senior forward Terrence Leather, suspended from Saturday's loss at UAB, is scheduled to return to practice today and play Wednesday at Southern Miss, coach Robert McCullum said.
Leather, USF's leading scorer and rebounder, was suspended for "conduct detrimental to the team" in the locker room after fouling out in 12 minutes during USF's loss to Cincinnati on Thursday.
"His playing time, or whether he starts on Wednesday, will be predicated on practice in the next two days," said McCullum, who met with Leather on Sunday. "But I anticipate he'll come out and have great practices."
