Xpressions

Open to imagination

This month's open theme yielded strong imagery in words and art. Find the seals barking on the docks, the chuckling stream and the many fluorescent eyes of the scallops. And if you would like to see your work published in Xpressions, please follow the instructions below.

Xpressions, our monthly showcase for the art, writing and photography of students through the 12th grade, is looking for your work! Xpressions appears the last Monday of each month inside Floridian.

Please read the following instructions before submitting your work, which must be based on the designated themes.

FEBRUARY: HIGH SCHOOL SHOWCASE - For the bay area's high school students only. Send us your creative work on the topic of your choice. Deadline: Postmark Feb. 9.

MARCH: PURPLE THEME - This month, we want you to write about the color purple. Art and photography should also depict that regal color. Deadline: Postmark March 12.

Artwork must be on white, unlined paper. Your work will not be considered for publication without ALL of the following information: name, age, name of school and grade, your address, ZIP code and phone number with area code. TEACHERS: Please include your phone number with area code and e-mail address.

IMPORTANT: Stories must be no longer than 150 words. We will return only artwork and only if you indicate that you want it back.
