ST. PETERSBURG - Police say they think two men who robbed a Bank of America branch Tuesday morning may also be responsible for two bank robberies last month.
According to St. Petersburg police, one of the men walked into the bank at 1135 62nd Ave. N about 11:30 a.m., while the second man parked his car on the side of the building. The first man handed the teller a note demanding money and implied he had a gun. He then left with an undisclosed amount of cash and drove off with the second man. No one was injured.
Based on bank surveillance photos, police think these may be the same two men who robbed the United Bank at 333 Third Ave N on Jan. 10, and again on Jan. 25. In the first robbery, the suspect was armed with a semiautomatic handgun.
The language in handwritten notes used in all three robberies was similar, police said, and all three banks were robbed between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m.
Police also think one of the men entered the SunTrust Bank at 3100 Central Ave. on Monday, but became nervous and left.
Both suspects are black men, 30-35 years old, between 6 feet and 6 feet 2, and between 180 and 200 pounds.
The vehicle used in Tuesday's robbery was described as a cream-colored, early 1990s model Lincoln four-door sedan with a temporary Florida license tag, a portion of which is K 165.
Anyone with information was asked to call St. Petersburg police Detective James Shakas at 893-4911.
