Men: Wake rides out rally to overcome Duke

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Chris Paul scored 23 and No. 7 Wake Forest withstood a flurry of late 3-pointers to hang on for a 92-89 victory over No. 4 Duke on Wednesday night.
The Demon Deacons led by as many as 14 in the second half and appeared headed to an easy victory. But J.J. Redick made three 3-pointers in the final 2:14 and Sean Dockery hit one as Duke cut it to 90-89 with three seconds left.
The Blue Devils had to foul and sent Taron Downey to the line with two seconds left. He made both to make it 92-89, and Redick's off-balance 3 fell short at the buzzer.
Aside from wins over Oklahoma and at North Carolina State, the Blue Devils have yet to fully prove themselves.
VA. TECH 73, UM 63: Zabian Dowdell scored 23 as the visiting Hokies beat a fellow conference newcomer. The Hurricanes fell below .500 in the ACC for the first time.
PROVIDENCE 98, UVA 79: Donnie McGrath hit all nine 3-point attempts for a career-high 27 points, helping the host Friars end a seven-game skid.
LSU 95, UGA 79: Antonio Hudson scored a career-high 26 and the Tigers beat the Bulldogs on the road for the first time in 14 years.
S. CAROLINA 64, ARKANSAS 52: Tarence Kinsey had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the host Gamecocks.
OLE MISS 70, AUBURN 55: Justin Johnson scored a season-high 19 as the host Rebels ended a four-game skid.
VANDY 67, TENNESSEE 62: Freshman guard Alex Gordon scored a season-high 30 as the host Commodores swept the season series.

NO. 9 LOUISVILLE 77, NO. 18 UC 70: Freshman forward Juan Palacios scored 17 and banked in an unlikely 3-pointer to seal the win for the host Cardinals. Taquan Dean scored 19, and the 6-foot-8 Palacios shot 8-for-10 and grabbed 10 rebounds for Louisville, which has won eight in a row and 13 of 14.
UAB 86, MARQUETTE 63: Demario Eddins matched his season high with 23 points and added nine rebounds for the visiting Blazers, who outscored the Golden Eagles 50-6 in the paint.
MEMPHIS 72, ECU 66: Rodney Carney scored 19, including the 1,000th of his career, for the host Tigers.
HOUSTON 63, SAINT LOUIS 43: Andre Owens scored 26 to lead the host Cougars.
