Super Bowl Commercials vs. the World / 8 p.m. on CBS. If more of the games had been memorable, would there still be so much interest in the commercials? In any case, it's the Super Bowl where the stakes are highest for the advertisers -- they'll pay close to $2.4 million for 30 seconds this year. So they're saving their best shots for Sunday.

Screen Actors Guild Awards / 8 p.m. on TNT. The 11th annual ceremony, another in the growing series of warmups for the Oscars, will be shown live from Los Angeles. James Garner will be honored with the Life Achievement Award, which recognizes humanitarian efforts along with career achievements.
Sunday (2/6)
Puppy Bowl / 3 p.m. on Animal Planet. If you've had your fill of fullbacks, this special features a different breed of competitor. A faux "stadium" is full of cuddly puppies who run with the ball -- or not, as the mood strikes them. Maxie the lab, Itsy the French bulldog, Roxie the shepherd-mix and the rest of the team follow their own rules in playing tug of war and other puppy games. Through the Animal Planet Web site, the program offers viewers information about adopting or fostering pets via local shelters and animal hospitals. Several local puppies, available for adoption, are among the competitors.

More sex and the single mom / 9 p.m. on Lifetime. Gail O'Grady reprises her role as Baltimore paralegal Jess Gradwell in this sequel to Sex and the Single Mom , which aired last year. While Jess studies for the bar exam and plans her wedding, she also cares for the toddler who was the result of her affair with Alex Lofton, a dashing surgeon who never knew about the child. The reappearance of Alex complicates Jess' life, even as teenage daughter Sara gets her own love life in gear with a motorcycle-riding photographer. Grant Show and Chelsea Hobbs also reprise their roles.
