  • For their own good
Fifty years ago, they were screwed-up kids sent to the Florida School for Boys to be straightened out. But now they are screwed-up men, scarred by the whippings they endured. Read the story and see a video and portrait gallery.

Zoning

Modifications sought for 5-acre development

By STEPHANIE HAYES
Published February 6, 2005

The following proposal has been submitted for review.

LUTZ: A bank and office complex needs to cross the line in the North Dale Mabry Overlay District.

The district, which aims to plan for growth by limiting development along the highway in Lutz, requires a 40-foot buffer zone parallel to and fronting Dale Mabry, where the project is planned.

Bissett-McGrath Dale Mabry Partnership is asking for minor modifications to the narrowly shaped 5-acre planned development northeast of Geraci Road to place half of the proposed buildings in the buffer zone. Developers are also limited by on-site wetlands.

The site was rezoned in 2003 for a 4,000-square-foot bank and 15,000-square-foot office complex.

Hillsborough County commissioners will review the request Tuesday. (Petition 05-0367)
