Your turn
Emmitt a classic
Letters to the Editor
Published February 6, 2005
I'd like to add my goodbye to Emmitt Smith upon his retirement, because he is/was the epitome of what a good running back should be but rarely is. What I will remember most about this not-so-little guy is that he quietly, consistently got the job done. As they say, "It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game."

Enough already
As a native of Jacksonville, I am fed up with all the bashing of that city, host for today's Super Bowl, from local newspapers and television stations. Jacksonville worked hard to obtain an NFL franchise, upgrading the old Gator Bowl into the magnificent Alltel Stadium. Floridians should be proud (including all those sportswriters and reporters), since our state has hosted about 35 percent of the 39 Super Bowl games (and Miami will again be hosting in 2007). No other state has hosted the Super Bowl more times.
The economy of Jacksonville/Duval County will be greatly enhanced, as will the economy of such nearby counties as Nassau and Baker. So stop the bashing and enjoy the spotlight on Jacksonville and the St. Johns River, and all of Florida.
