FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU's Sandora Irvin broke the NCAA Division I women's career record for blocked shots Saturday night when she had eight in the Frogs' 74-64 win over Memphis.
The 6-foot-3 senior has 434 in 116 games, with seven regular-season games left. Genia Miller had 428 blocked shots in 118 games for Cal-State Fullerton from 1987-91.
"I got up in the air a lot early on, so I had to calm myself down," said Irvin, the niece of former Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin. "I had to play my game and compose myself and let it come. I was really anxious.
"I think my teammates were more excited coming into this game than me. It felt good, and I'm excited for everyone that was here to see it."
