CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

Inverness Does Drove 232 held 2005 officer installations Jan. 12. The following officers were installed: President, Mary Gruss; Senior Counselor, Joan Golway; Senior Counselor, Gerry Fallanca; Jr. Counselor, Laura Ireland; Secretary, Lille Mabie; Treasurer, Venita Hughes; Conductor, Audrey Wagner; Inner Guard, Patricia Martin; Outer Guard, Mary Casola; Musician, Marge Grady.

Appointed Officers: Chaplin, Ida Heyn; Color Bearers: Ruth Scharder, Sandra Arline, Vera Crane, Rose Drennen. Attendants: Dot Cook, Mary Timpe, Helen Dhonau, Louise Chiarmonte.

Trustees: Three-year trustee, Vivian Taylor; Two-year trustee, Mary Timpe; One-year trustee, Betty Leinwander.

Installing Officers: Deputy Supreme President, Betty Leinwander; Deputy Supreme Conductor, Florence Reed; Installing Chaplin, Ida Heyn; Installing Musician, Collette Myers.

A reception followed the installation for members and guests.

On Jan. 15, the North Suncoast Republican Club welcomed new County Commissioner Joyce Valentino, who spoke on current issues before the commission.

Newly appointed 2005 NSRC board members are: Samantha (Sam) Hoffman; past presidents George Gardner and Bob Hagaman; Sal Cina and Donetta Holland.

At the December meeting, the following officers were elected: Charlie Hoke, president; David Lewis, vice president; Tess Smaxwell, secretary and Roland Aberle as returning treasurer.

CITRUS KIDS

Abbott Francis Sadlier Council 6168 of the Knights of Columbus held its annual Free Throw competition Jan. 29 at Lecanto High School. Thirty-seven children ages 10 through 14 participated. The competition has a division for boys and one for girls. Seven local winners emerged. They were:

10-year-olds: Richard Rizzolo.

11-year-olds: Addison Holstein.

12-year-olds: Ricky Melson.

13-year-olds: Kristy Vidair and Nicholas Cortes.

14-year-olds: Jordan Holstein and Victor Cortes.

Winners advance to the district competition. District winners advance to regional competition, and regional winners advance to state competition.

RECREATION

Albert Greenhalgh of Homosassa had a hole-in-one on the 128-yard hole 11 of Pine Ridge Country Club on Feb. 3. This was his first hole-in-one. His playing partners were D.F. O'Hara and Bob Urig of Homosassa.

On Feb. 2, members of the Little Pines Ladies League played "Revert 2 Worst Holes to Par" on a par 27.

ANNIKA SORENSTAM FLIGHT: First, Gayle Roth, 33; Second, Betty Colbourn, 34; Third, Kem Eid, 34.

Winners of Closest to the Pin were: Sandy Fahrenthold, hole 2 ; Chris Harvey, hole 3 ; Sandy Roth, hole 4 ; Lynn Schoenberger, hole 7; Nancy Barron, hole 9. Closest to the line, Mary Oesterle, hole 6.

BIRDIES: Doris Luhman, hole 1; M. Kaiser, hole 2; Chris Harvey, holes 3 and 5; Sandy Roth, hole 4; Mary Burgess, hole 5; Lucille LeBlanc and Glenys Phillips, hole 6; Gayle Roth and Maudie Skinner, hole 8; Nancy Barron, hole 9.

Pine Ridge Golf Course held its League Championship on Jan. 22-23. Women's results were:

Low gross (178), Roberta Radant.
