Who's who: Based out of Hillsborough County, Select Start is made up of Joe Guerra, 22, the main vocalist and drummer; Patrick Guyer, 19, also on drums; Matt Reisinger, 21, on guitar; and Adam Loper, 22, on bass and also vocals.

Early days of Select Start: Originally a threesome, the band added Reisinger more than three months ago. Guerra is credited with Select Start's creation.

Daily jobs: Currently only two are employed, but all four are in school. Fields of study include a firefighter, educator, audiologist and businessman.

And the name means what? Reisinger says that "the whole band is a video game addict." In Nintendo, the control pad has an exclusive, powerful two-button combo that does secretive actions, called a "Select Start."

Similar to: According to the band, a few people have said that "they're reminded of The Impossibles and Fall Out Boy."

Style and Genre: Select Start feels it's important to know that all its music is original. Its music is described as "a mixture of pop-punk and soft-core rock," says Reisinger. Guerra does most of the songwriting. Guerra's songs are typically influenced from friends' experiences with dating and life.

Band's influence: All four members have grown as musicians "listening to Green Day and Less Than Jake."
