The New England Patriots joined the Dallas Cowboys as the only teams to win three Super Bowls in four seasons with their 24-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Pats receiver Deion Branch tied a Super Bowl record with 11 catches and was named the game's MVP.
HONORS / Quarterbacks Dan Marino (Dolphins) and Steve Young (49ers, Bucs) were elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Marino holds a slew of records and Young, whose NFL career started inauspiciously with Tampa Bay, won the Super Bowl in 1994.
STREAK ENDS / Daleville won its first girls basketball game in six years, ending the longest losing streak in Indiana high school history at 113 games. The Broncos beat Fort Wayne Keystone 61-27, snapping a streak that began before the turn of the century.
TREAD TRENDS / NBA players are prohibited from using their uniforms for advertising, but that hasn't kept Richard Hamilton of the Pistons from using the hair on his head, styling it so that it matches the tread pattern of Goodyear's Assurance Triple Tred tire. Hamilton made an endorsement deal with Goodyear that includes free tires and an unspecified amount of money.
BUCKS FOR BUCS: Consecutive losing seasons and a 12-20 record since winning the Super Bowl has not stopped the Bucs from raising ticket prices for the second year in a row. The new pricing represents a $2 to $5 increase per ticket. Prices for the 2005 season at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa will be $71, $64, $54, $49, $40, $35, and $29.
