All's fair (more or less)
Midway game operators want to drain your wallet, and the odds are stacked in their favor. Still, determined competitors do have a shot at winning.

Fair facts

Music at the fair
Head to the Florida State Fair in Tampa for a wide variety of music

Head to the Florida State Fair in Tampa for a wide variety of music, including today's set by country crooner Travis Tritt and Monday's soulful show by New Orleans' favorite sons, the Neville Brothers. (Next week features a concert by Grand Ole Opry legends and by contemporary Christian hearthrobs the Newsboys.)

Georgia boy Tritt folds Southern rock and blues into a feisty mix of country music that's been making fans tap their boot toes for more than 15 years.

Monday's Valentine's Day show by the Neville Brothers, known for the hits Yellow Moon, Walkin' In The Shadow of Life and Family Groove, features all four brothers including singing sensation Aaron.

Tritt performs at 7:30 p.m. today $15-$30 in addition to State Fair admission, and the Neville Brothers perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday ($15-$20 plus fair admission). Next week, the Grand Ole Opry legends, including Jim Ed Brown, Barbara Fairchild and Tommy Cash are at 3 p.m. Feb. 17 ($10 additions), and the Newsboys perform at 6 p.m. Feb. 21 ($15-$20). All are in the Ford Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds, 4800 U.S. 301 N, Tampa. Toll-free 1-800-345-3247 or www.floridastatefair.com
