Tonight: USF women at Tulane
By GREG AUMAN
Published February 11, 2005
WHEN/WHERE: 8; New Orleans, La.
RECORDS: USF - 15-9, 5-5 Conference USA; Tulane - 10-12, 2-7.
COACHES: USF - Jose Fernandez (54-81, fifth season); Tulane - Lisa Stockton (224-104, 11th season; 287-131 overall).
NOTABLE: Monday's win against Charlotte keeps alive USF's hopes of making its NCAA Tournament debut, but the Bulls must sweep their remaining four, including the next three on the road, to continue such a drive. First, the Bulls have to beat Tulane, which holds a 9-2 edge at home against the Bulls. ... The Green Wave is led by 6-foot forward Lakethia Hampton, who is fifth in C-USA in scoring (16.8) and 11th in rebounding (7.2). ... Tulane handed Marquette (14-8) a 20-point loss two weeks ago. ... USF got a spark Monday from the return of sophomore center Nalini Miller, who played 20 minutes and should expand on that tonight. She wasn't the only force off the bench, as fellow reserves Chanae Early, ChiChi Okpaleke and Alana Tanksley combined for 12 points in 28 minutes. ... With 133 assists this season, point guard Anedra Gilmore has the two best single-season totals in USF history, after her 175 as a junior.
